WHY DID GOD GIVE US THE HOLY SPIRIT.
In the new creation, the purpose of the Holy Spirit in the life of the new creation is to provide government. What do we mean by government, one may ask. Government is the means through which Christ reigns or carries on his reign in the heart of the saints. Isaiah 9:6, unto us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace. This is a tangible, relatable and expressive interaction by which we know that God is at work in us as “Lord” and saviour. Jesus is our Lord as long as we are being led by Him, even by his Spirit
THE FOUR ASPECTS OF GOVERNMENT
- COUNSEL – The Lord as The Spirit of Counsel in our heart to provide the mind of God
- MIGHT – THE MIGHT OR STRENGHT OF GOD – The Spirit make available to our inner being or inner man, the strength of God, Dunamis or the miracle working power of God.
- PRESENCE – The Spirit provides us access to the Presence of God in real time
- WARFARE – The Spirit in our heart is a Spirit of War. The God of the Warfare. Ephesians Ephesians 6:12.. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. The Holy Spirit enables us to wrestle with princes of regions guarding territories that are closed to the gospel and the works of the Kingdom
