For the Spirit of the Lord is upon me
As children and sons of god we called to walk in the spirt, walk with the spirit of God, live in the spirit
Galatians 5:16 walk in the spirit and you will not gratify the deeds.
We are going to look at part of a life in the spirit.
CONTACTING A HUNGER FOR PRAYER / CULTIVATING A HUNGER FOR GOD/ RECONISING SPIRITUAL SUMMONS – Summons are the wooings of the Spirit initiated by the spirit.
Jesus said Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for they shall be filled.
And at this point in time in our walk with God, what we must eagerly desire if the baptism of hunger.
Just as Jabez prayed and that oh Lord that thou will bless me 1 Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel,
- “Oh, that you would bless me
- and enlarge my territory!
- Let your hand be with me, and
- keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
This is the desire of God for you, that you walk in his blessing, that your territory be increased, you want the hand of God, that God will Keep you from harm.
4 PRAYER POINT
We need to pray and cry out oh God, that you will bless me with hunger and thirst.
When God is doing a new thing in your life and wants to bring you higher either to himself or higher in the things pertaining to the Kingdom, the secret is He give you an insatiable hunger and begins to Woo you.
It is a sign that God want to do something in and with you. And the more we learn to recognise the Wooing’s of the Spirit the more we can yield to his government in our lives.
And this morning I want to show you how to recognise when God is calling or Wooing you to higher place in him. (IT MAY BE HIGHER FOR SOME BUT I WILL TRY AS MUCH TO BREAK IT DOWN AND MAKE IT PRACTICABLE AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND).
And this I teach from the place of experiential knowledge
I remember time where I’m watch tv, then this thing will come and he will say stop watching TV and go to your room and Pray.
I will be in the shop then the thing will come upon my heart again and I will tell Jenny, lets get out of hear and go home. The government of God was so strong upon my heart and I will stop everything and respond to it.
The two ingredient for staying filled with God is Hunger and Thirst (Bishop tough on Hunger, desire and persistence)
The church is the ground and the pillar of Truth so we learn the truths of God’s word and as bishop has declared the month of greater light, I believe God is going to bring us greater truth and with greater truths, we can walk in greater anointing.
And while I’m teaching this morning, God will begin to heal. I may not pray for the sick but God will heal. All sort of healings will be taking place
SELF INDUCED HUNGER AND GOD INDUCED HUNGER
The God induced hunger is the hunger that God blesses you with. Matthew 5: 6
God’s kind of hunger is induced through summons
This is recognised by summons – Summons are spiritual callings and prompting of God, initiated by God to achieve his purposes. Summons are the wooings of the Spirit initiated by the spirit.
We must learn to recognise when God is calling us through his summons. Summons are signs of Spiritual calling.
I remember another time, when I would walk to work and back, and on the way all I could her in my left ear was “CONSECRATION, CONSECRATION, CONSECRATION,
It was that time that Jesus appeared unto me.

SPIRITUAL SUMMONS – HOW TO RECOGNISE SUMMONS
How to position yourself in the spirit to receive Summons: Ephesians 5:18
This is how you enter the realm of the spirit, to receive summons
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
- 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms
- and hymns and spiritual songs,
- singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
- 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
- 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
- A life of submission ( Ephesians 6:1-9 gives a good details about what submission is) And full submission deal with
- Agreement
- Obedience
- Honor
- Divine admonitioning
SUMMARISE – We have discussed about how we can respond to summons, what are summons, how we can be positioned to receive summons and the signals of the Holy Ghost.
We have discussed how we can be positioned – Through the 5 ultimate channels,( Speaking in Psalm, hyms and spiritual songs, singing and melodies, Thanks giving and submission.
Under submission: we mentioned about – 4 important keys that’ll allow the Spirit to settle when we yield to him. AGREEMENT, OBEDIENCE, HONOR AND DIVINE ADMONITIONING
JESUS SAID LEARN OF ME. ( CHARACTER OF JESUS is that he is meek and Lowly).
KNWOING JESUS AND THE HOLY GHOST IS AN ETERNAL SCHOOL THAT WE WILL NOT GRADUATE.
We can only learn of the ways of Jesus, the master through the Holy Ghost.
- THE FIRST THING WE LEARN WHEN WE YEILD TO THE WOOING OF THE SPIRIT IS THAT –
When the spirit begins to Woo you, what he wants to do is that he wants to initiate his you into bearing his YOKE. He wants to initiate you into bearing his burden.
THE SECOND THING IS THAT HE WANTS TO TEACH YOU
(Matthew 11:29 – NIV take my yoke and learn from me
The NLT say, take my yoke upon you and let me TEACH YOU.
And the ultimate purpose the spirit want to do is that he want to find an occasion to TEACH YOU.
And when you yield to the Spirit, You’ll enter into his teaching dimension.
To the Holy Ghost, you are his temple. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, therefore glorify God in your body which are God’s.
THE THIRD THING IS THAT – He takes a hold of your spirit, to make intercession. Romans 8:26 the spirit MAKE intercession.
The meaning in Hebrew means to Paga( to fall upon, to light upon)
Intercessions are made: And there are different ingredients that goes into the making of Intercession.( The number one ingredient is the WILL of God).
He makes intercession according to the Will of God.
We will not fully grasp the ministry of the holy spirit until we grasp the ministry of intercession because the posture of intercession is the posture of the Spirit.
Intercession is the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
When we yield to the spirit,
Paul says not that I have apprehended but there are truths that we must apprehend.
We follow on to know – Hosea 6:3,
The realm of the spirit is like a wilderness, and only one person has the Compass.
Jesus our role model. Jesus our pattern man
To submit means to yield or give over , to arrange under, or to yield to one’s admonition or advice ( HUPOTASSO in GREEK).
When we learn to yield to the Holy Spirit, we are yielding to the Government of God. It is through yielding that true government is exercise upon out heart.
Isaiah 9:7, And of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his Kingdom to order it and to establish it with Judgement and with Justice from hence forth even for ever.
We can not receive Summons if we can not submit to God.
Jesus said learn of me for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. That learn of me mean , is a school of the spirit. That means to know through experience that it him bringing the burden upon your heart, at that moment find a place and yield to the spirit.
This is how we recognise God
When we are able to yield in the place of Prayer can we receive his summons. (THIS IS THE MYSTERIES OF RANKS)
And when we yield to summons, we are yielding or submitting to God and the spirit. Its in this submission that we can exercise through authority over the devil
Its in our Submission to God, that we can resist the devil. Every time you receive summon and you yield to it, you are yielding to God and therefore increasing your rank in the spirit,
Whenever we yield to summons of the spirit and we submit to what God wants to achieve for the hour, the resultant effect of that when we accomplished in the realm of the spirit will produce what we call the PEACE OF GOD, THAT PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING.
When we yield to summons, this is where we’ll be walking in Romans 6:13
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
The Works of Righteousness is accomplished within the framework of Summons.
Isaiah 32:17
For instance if you pray and declare that Lord let you Kingdom be established within a family/marriage situation, what you are unknowingly declaring is let his righteousness, peace and Joy prevail. For the Kingdom of God is not in meat and drink but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost
Summons are God’s initiative into greater dept of Koinonia with Himself
Revelations 4:1 – John received a summon.
Spiritual Summons comes to us when we are in the Spirit. That’s when the scriptures tells us to be filled with the spirit. Ephesians 5:18
Moses received a summon to come up the mountain to receive the commandment – Exodus 24:12
Until we learn to yield to summons the word of God will never become a commandment to you.
It’s in summons that the Word of God becomes commandment unto you. Without it, it’ll be a piece of paper. Moses said the commandments are your life, Deuteronomy 32:47

SELF INDUCED – ACTIVATING AND CULTIVATING THE HUNGER OF GOD
Incultivating the hunger of God there are prinicples that we can employ. Spiritual principles that we can adopt that’ll ensure that we contact the hunger of God
And by this I want to talk to you about Prayers of activations that we can adopt.
